Alaska's Digital Archives present a wealth of historical photographs, albums, oral histories, moving images, maps, documents, physical objects, and other materials from libraries, museums and archives throughout our state. The association of depositories is now working in partnership with the University of Alaska's LitSite to provide narrative content that supports the digital images, as well as links for more information on the subject, and a list of books and visual materials available in libraries throughout Alaska. The Alaska Statehood feature on LitSite samples some of the Alaska statehood material
The Road to Statehood (2 pages)
Alaska's governor, Mike Stepovich, and congressional advocates for statehood for the northern territory were jubilant after Senate passage of the Alaskan statehood bill.

The Alaska Flag Story (2 pages)
Thirteen-year-old Benny Benson designed a flag with "eight stars of gold on a field of blue" that not only won an American Legion contest in 1926 but became Alaska's territorial and, later, state flag.
