A Cup from the Belly of the Wellspring
By Isabella Andreini

A cup,

overflowing,

overflowing,

she gives so much.

A back

aging and curving,

she needs so much.

A hand to stand,

many demands~

archetype of the queen

an elder,

the mother, the maiden, and the Crone.

She deserves to sit in that throne,

she's spent eighty nine years revolving around the sun.

Cleaned many feet of others

as the mother;

so tonight I will squat down and clean hers.

About the Author: Isabella Andreini wrote this poem as part of a reflecting writing assignment in her final semester of nursing school. She eagerly anticipates her first day on the job.
