An open touring car pauses in front of the Sourdough Roadhouse at Gakona on the Richardson Highway. Colorized slides from the Alaska Railroad Collection, ca. 1923, advertised one of the first tours of the state offered by the newly built railroad, including a steamship-train-auto tour of the territory that began in Seattle.
