The first airplane over Juneau was part of the U.S. Army’s Black Wolf Squadron in flight from Mineola, New York, to Nome. The plane, en route to Whitehorse, dropped a message for territorial Governor Thomas Riggs. This scene was captured by pioneer photographers Winter & Pond. Alaska State Library.
