Cape Chiniak ca 1950
View of two workers climbing the dome atop a "White Alice" facility at Cape Chiniak, on Kodiak Island, Alaska. White Alice was a form of radar built by the U.S. Air Force in the mid 1950's. Built during the height of the Cold War the U.S. Air Force meant these White Alice sites to warn against incoming enemy aircraft and to control responding U.S. fighters. UAA-hmc-0370-series15a-2-105
