A new figure of the Lincoln Pole created for Saxman

Negative No. NA3806

Tlingit carvers James Starrish and Charles Brown created a new figure for the Lincoln Pole at Saxman, near Ketchikan, in 1940. The actual name of the Lincoln pole is "Proud Raven," for the figure at the base. Both men were heavily involved in replicating the stolen Raven pole, commonly known as the Seattle Totem Pole, that year. C.M. Archbold photo. Copyright University of Washington.
