Living in Juneau at age 99, Parks received birthday wishes from his niece, Mrs. Carl A. Valentine (left), Dora M. Sweeney, and Gov. Jay Hammond. At Parks' death in 1984, he was nearly 101 years old, and recognized as the oldest former governor in the nation. Alaska State Library.
