Village of Tanana

UAF-1994-70-10

The village of Tanana, near the confluence of the Tanana and Yukon Rivers, was the destination each spring for Athabascans throughout the region, who came to trade and socialize. This photo from 1910 shows Stevens Village Natives embarking on their annual trip to Tanana, 250 miles downriver. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
