UAA-hmc-0614-35d

Dan T. Kennedy built the Savage River Tent Camp in the spring of 1923 for tourists who needed affordable accommodations outside of Anchorage and Fairbanks. Visitors to Alaska who could afford more lavish rooms would stay at the Curry Hotel, which was also built in 1923 and was located 100 miles south of the park. Alaska State Library.
