ASL-P87-1186 The men and boys of Hose Company Number 1, Front Street, Juneau, Alaska, ca. 1890. Jeweler Emery Valentine, second firefighter from left, operated the store at left. He helped organize the company and donated a special wagon to eliminate the bucket brigade. Valentine would go on to serve as Juneau mayor for two separate terms. Also volunteering in the company were E. Percy Pond, seventh from left, and Lloyd Valentine Winter, tenth from left. Alaska State Library.
