Salmon
By Hazel Underwood
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2006 Category: UAA/ADN Creative Writing Contest

A reflection on the water
Sent you leaping from your bed
As you nibbled on your yolk sac
And swam farther from the redd
When a grizzly made you leap
And it gave you quite a scare
Then the next thing that you knew
You were tumbling through the air!
Now all the danger back there
Sent you swimming to the sea
And I even tried to catch you
But you swam away from me!
