Joseph T. Flakne Papers, 1926-1999. University of Alaska, Elmer E. Rasmuson Library. The papers of Joseph T. Flakne (1900-1999) consist of correspondence, clippings, photographs, journals, and personal papers documenting Flakne's long career in public service in Alaska and in federal agencies concerned with Alaska. His records as Alaska Chief of the Division of Territories with the Department of the Interior especially document federal involvement in such areas as education, transportation, medicine, and natural resource management in the territory of Alaska after World War II. Flakne's correspondents include many Alaskan notables such as Ernest Gruening, E.L. "Bob" Bartlett, Charles Bunnell, Terris and Katrina Moore, Ernest Patty, William Cashen, and Mardy Murie.
