Nick's Important Thing
By Nick
Genre: Non-fiction
Category: Student Examples

baby blanketMy important thing is my baby blanket. My great aunt Linda made it. She originally made it for my brother, but he did not want it, so he gave it to me. Sometimes, when she comes over, she will go up to my room and look at it to make sure that I still have it and that I still take care of it. I keep it in my closet to this day.

It is round, hand-knit, and yellow and green. It is made out of cotton yarn. It is pretty old, but still in good condition. The colors have started to fade because of the many times we have washed it. I try very hard to keep it clean.

It reminds me of my childhood. I used to lend it to my little brothers so they could fall asleep easier. We used to use it when we made forts in our living room. I took it on camping trips when I was little. Lots of memories come to mind when I look at it.

It works great for relieving stress too. Like when I was little and we had spelling tests every week, I would be so stressed and nervous the night before. But then, when I got into bed, I just forgot about it and fell asleep.

I will take it with me when I move out of my parents' house and when I go to college. I hope it lasts forever.
