Ereth's Birthday, By Avi

In this book a grouchy porcupine named Ereth wakes up on his birthday expecting to receive a present from a friend of his, a field mouse named Poppy. He walks over to her den and Bear Barf! Nobody is there but a bunch of no good youngsters who have forgotten about his birthday. Disappointed and grumpy he sets out on a mission to retrieve salt, his favorite food. He ends up getting entangled in all sorts of catastrophes. Phooey on Rabbit hare with fish fins on the side!

I loved this book because it had lots of funny comments in it and tells the story from two different points of view, which switch frequently. I recommend Ereth's Birthday to students 4th grade and up.
