The Two Villages
By Eli Zuck
Genre: Visual Arts Level: Elementary K-3
Category: Student Examples

Eli Zuck's maskOne rainy and windy day a girl's village didn't have any food. And another boy's village didn't have any food. So one day the girl went out to the tundra to pick some flowers. When she was leaving she saw the boy and they talked for a while.

Then they talked about their villages not having enough of food.

They decided to go to the bird spirit and say, "Bird spirit, please come out and feed our people because our people are hungry."

And so they went back to their villages. The next day 100 willow ptarmigans and other birds came. They had food to last them three months. Everyone in the village did a dance to thank the Bird spirit for giving them this wonderful food.

From then on, the boy and the girl went the Bird spirit every summer to get food. They do their special bird dance when the Bird spirit says "yes!" And they stayed friends from that day on.

The End
