B. Frank Heintzleman, seated, was a Regional Forester with the Forest Service during the 1930s. He directed CCC Alaska Region programs all over the state, but was especially interested in rescuing the decaying totem poles throughout Southeast. In the mid-1950s, President Eisenhower appointed Heintzleman territorial governor of Alaska.
