Downing's Sleigh in Eagle, Alaska

In 1904, a winter stage line ran between Dawson City, Yukon Territory,
and Eagle, Alaska. Here, court officials board Downing’s sleigh in
front of the Dawson’s Regina Hotel. Judge James Wickersham would soon
move the seat of the district court from Eagle to Fairbanks in a
political move that strengthened Fairbanks’ place on the map. Alaska State
