Gruening fought for the rights of Alaska Natives

Ever fighting for the rights of Alaska Natives, as well as other minorities, Gruening used his influence to bring the Alaska Civil Rights Bill before the state legislature in1943 and 1945. The bill passed in 1945. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
