Orphans at Kanakanak

Orphans from throughout the Bristol Bay region, and as far away as Nome, were sent to Kanakanak after the influenza pandemic of 1918-19, where an orphanage, hospital, and school operated by the U.S. Bureau of Education met their physical needs. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
