Four orphaned children at Pawik (Naknek) were photographed by National Geographic Society expedition member Emery Clifford Kolb in 1919. The scientists were on their way to Katmai to research the effects of the June 1912 Novarupta Volcano eruption. University of Alaska Anchorage Archives.
