ASL-P277-017-012
Seated atop a cannon at St. Michael, Alaska, this Athabascan shaman from the Koyukuk River was called "Red Shirt." Handwritten notes on the margin indicate another name, Krashnearabasca. The photograph by Charles O. Farciot was taken during the Schieffelin Brothers' Yukon River prospecting trip of 1882-83. Alaska State Library.
