UAF-1998-129-3
Wiley Post was on his record-breaking solo round-the-world trip in July 1933 when he encountered a mishap in the mining town of Flat, Alaska. The Winnie Mae tipped onto her nose after hitting a rough patch of tailings at the airstrip, and after the propeller was straightened in Fairbanks, the plane was made upright for another take-off.
