Project Chariot Diagram |
As originally planned, Project Chariot comprised a series of five nuclear bombs that when detonated, would excavate a deep water harbor out of Otogoruk Creek on Cape Thompson. Yet a harbor in that arctic location could have only operated three months of the year if it had been constructed – it would be frozen for nine months.
