ASL-P143-0238 In the 1940s, the Territorial Department of Health and the Alaska Tuberculosis Association partnered with local health groups, such as the Gastineau Channel Health Council, to stop the spread of tuberculosis. Here, two young Boy Scouts were part of the effort in Sitka to ensure everybody got a free chest X-ray. The poster reads: "Check your chest. Have an X-ray at the Methodist Church basement starting March 22, 1948. It's free. It's painless. Takes only a few minutes. No undressing necessary. All reports confidential." Alaska State Library.
