Following their 1898 discovery of gold on Anvil Creek near Nome, John Brynteson, Jafet Lindeberg, and Erik O. Lindblom became known as the "Three Lucky Swedes." Their mining rights were trampled when greedy arrivals jumped some of their claims, with backing by a crooked judge. Alaska State Library.
