During the planning of the Alaska Home Railway, later known as the Alaska Railroad, engineers were temporarily housed at Camp Comfort on the Valdez-Fairbanks Trail, about 12 miles from Valdez. This P.S. Hunt image dates from Sept. 7, 1907. Anchorage Museum of History and Art, Library and Archives.
