Mary Oulette and her bear cub

Mary's father, John Oulette, was a teamster on the primitive Richardson Highway. Divorced from his Athabascan wife, he left his daughter in the care of Jack and Hila Taylor, first in Fairbanks and later at Taylor's Roadhouse. His son George lived at the St. Mark's Mission school in Nenana. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
