Gov. George A. Parks

In 1928, Gov. George A. Parks made a 4,500-mile tour of Alaska's transportation grid, traveling by steamship, airplane, railroad, wagon, and car. His travels included a formal inspection of the Richardson Highway. Accompanying the governor were Major Malcolm Elliott and a territorial highway engineer named R. J. Sommers. Alaska State Library.
