Arrived at Valdez

Photographer P.S. Hunt took this image of the Burnside as it arrived at Valdez on September 25, 1904, with marine cable to connect Valdez with Sitka. The cable project allowed telegraph communication from Seattle to far-flung army outposts along the Yukon River. Archives, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
