The first airplane over Juneau

The first airplane over Juneau was part of the U.S. Army's Black Wolf Squadron in flight from Mineola, New York, to Nome. The plane, en route to Whitehorse, dropped a message for territorial Governor Thomas Riggs. This scene was captured by pioneer photographers Winter & Pond. Alaska State Library.
