My Trip

Barcelona

Our trip started in Fairbanks, Alaska. From there our family flew to Seattle. We had an excruciating 10-hour flight to London. My head felt like I had been knocked out, but my body was full of energy. When my family got to Barcelona in Spain, the jet lag was horrible. The second day I woke up at 3:00 in the morning. Later that day I took a four-hour nap. As I tried to wake up from my nap, my eyes kept closing. After a painful day we were on to the city of Barcelona, tired as ever.

Barcelona, the coolest city I've been to, is like New York because every place that our family ate was amazing; the empanada was the best thing I ate. After we ate, we went on this cable car and it took us up to a castle. On the cable car it looked like we were going straight down even when we weren't. Everything seemed so plain, but as you look to your left you see a giant church. The next day our family went to the church that we saw from the cable car. It was bigger than Disneyland. The church was called Sagrada Familia, and it had stained glass walls. We walked around under the church and saw cool paintings. We also got to see how the church was constructed. The church has been under construction for 140 years and to this day is still under construction.

Camp Nou

The next day my dad decided to book me and him tickets to Camp Nou because he thought it would be a good idea, and it was. Camp Nou is a stadium where one of my favorite teams, Barcelona, plays. When we entered the stadium I felt inspired and amazed. Camp Nou is where Messi, Ronaldinho, and Maradona all played. While we were there I got cool bracelets and a jersey that had Messi's number which is the same as my player number. Also I got to shoot on a robo goalkeeper. It's so fast that not even Messi could score. It was a crazy experience.

Speed Train

On to the next destination: Gibraltar! Our family took two speed trains. The first train we took was going a blazing 300kph (180mph). Your ears would pop so much and the seats were so comfy. One and a half hours later our family had pulled into Madrid.

We had one more train to go and this would be the worst train ever. The train was slow and the seats were not squishy or soft. They were hard and dirty. After a painful three hours, we finally got to Gibraltar.

Gibraltar

This would be the worst part of our trip. Everyone in the family got sick; Sofia needed steroids to breathe. My dad was really cold the whole time, and my Mom was the last one to get sick. I never got sick the whole trip.

After all the sicknesses, the sports intake climbed.  I played lots of streetball which was really fun. I played soccer for a club called Calpe City. The coach talked for 45 minutes out of the hour and the players that were in practice were bored. He also had me benched during a practice just to practice for an upcoming game. After that he had me shoot on the keeper. Later on I watched a field hockey game which is where you use a really curved stick and play on wet turf. To end the day our evenings were spent eating and watching the World Cup.

The end of the trip neared. Before we left my family went to La Linea where my Uncle Nigel lives and saw his dogs. The day after, my dad and I got crepes and churros, went shopping, and then got a haircut. After that we went to the airport. Uncle Niki took us. The airport was small and empty. I was ready to go home. Overall we had a weird but fun and exciting trip.
