The Craziest Thanksgiving Ever
By Teagan Thirlaway
Genre: Fiction Level: Elementary K-3
Category: UAA/ADN Creative Writing Contest

It was Thanksgiving Eve. I went to bed that night, and a few seconds later I woke up.

I was on the floor. I rolled out of bed! When did that happen?

I'm confused. I stand up. Did I shrink? I say to myself. I look left, and then right, and then left again.

"AAAAAGGGGHHHH!" I scream. I was covered in feathers. I was a turkey!

Just then, my little brother, Gabe, and my little sister, Rose, come into the room.

"MOMMY!" Gabe shouts. "I FOUND THE HAM!"

"What? OH, DO YOU MEAN THE TURKEY?" Mommy says.

"YEAH!" Gabe shouts back at Mommy.

"Where is it, anyways? It wasn't in the fridge this morning." Mommy says to Gabe.

"DO YOU WANT ME TO CATCH IT?" Gabe shout-asks.

"OK, yeah, sure, do that." Mommy says, but secretly she doesn't believe him at all.

"YES!" Gabe shouts.

"I'll go downstairs to tell Mommy and Daddy to come upstairs," Rose says to Gabe. Then she runs downstairs. Gabe runs after me, and then Mommy, Daddy and Rose come upstairs.

"GET THAT TURKEY!" Rose shouts. All four of them run after me. I run downstairs. They chase me under the table, over the couch and across the living room. I run back upstairs and hide under the covers, even though I know it is kind of a dumb choice.

Then, something happens. I wake up! It was all a dream!

THE END
