The Flight
By Abigail Van Doorne, Rogers Park Elementary
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary K-3
Year: 2010 Category: UAA/ADN Creative Writing Contest

Owls in the west
Hint of thunder in the sky
Sun slowly sinking.

Flying off to east
Swooping down off Talon Rock
Sinking sun casts glimmer.

Pine trees rustling
Stars begin to give their glow
White moon shines brightly.

Having our tents pitched
Looking at black silhouettes
Soaring down the cliff.

Looking out to sea
Lighthouse giving beams of light
Sleep is very near.

Sleeping in the night
Dreaming about what we saw
The owls have flown.
