The Ballad of Lucy Whipple, By Karen Cushman

The ballad of Lucy Whipple is about a girl who hates her new home and then realizes she's going to be stuck there. She tries to make the most of her new life. Lucy lives in the California Gold Rush town of Lucky Diggins and wishes she could live the civilized life in Massachusetts with her Grandmother. After some odd situations and adventures she ends up content. This book is very inspiring. I would recommend it for all ages!
