Hand Poem
By Brian Gerd
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2004 Category: Margaret Mielke Memorial Poetry Award

My hand is a jungle
so many paths to choose.
Its scattered streams
the veins all shades of blues.
My hand is a zebra herd,
you can't tell where one stripe
starts and the other ends.
It?s an elaborate highway
with so many curves and bends.
My hand is shed snake
that is oh so tough.
My hand is a globe
with lines everywhere,
It is rhino's skin
that is weathered and bare.
