Germs
By Kaylah Hillery
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2003 Category: Margaret Mielke Memorial Poetry Award

Inside this mouth
are wee little germs
disgustingly decaying
creating cavities
driving around in their germobiles
all day long
protecting themselves
in the crooks and crannies
of your teeth
destroying teeth, breath,
and gums
they scatter around
crying
ALL IS LOST
you gargle
whoosh whoosh
they spread like a cold
hollering
FLOOD.
