Words
By Anna Wichorek
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2003 Category: Margaret Mielke Memorial Poetry Award

Words can be sad
like a silhouette of solitude,
Soft like floating feathers.
Words are magical
like sparkling, twinkling
moonstars.
Some words are angry
like flaming, red fury-
powerful like a swift raging
river.
Words are hope
like a rainbow
gracefully arching in the sky.
