Salmon Fishing
By Patrick Flint
Genre: Poetry Level: Elementary 4-6
Year: 2001 Category: Margaret Mielke Memorial Poetry Award

I hear the creek tumbling
the seagulls calling
the cars over my head
the whirr of fishing poles
I hear the rising chatter
as I reel in the silver
On the end of my line
I see the smiles
the other fishermen stare
at the heavy silver
as I walk
from Bird Creek.
