Chip's Postcard from His Backyard in Kodiak, Alaska
By Chip Holdiman
Genre: Visual Arts
Year: 2001 Category: LitSite Alaska's Postcard Contest

Chip's picture

Being left alone in peace and solitude makes me happy. Just me in the "real world." The world that was made for us that we are now ruining with gases, machines, and "people". I truly believe in the old ways: hunting for food, building your own home, and walking. Using our surrounding resources is the way I believe we were supposed to live. The only places I can live like this are in my dreams or in my backyard. I don't give this place a name because it is too beautiful to shame with heavyhearted words.
